Talking Making it to day 5!

Hi all! Last week I made it 4 days sober for the first time in a few years. That night I decided to drink and poof....that was the end of that. As I posted earlier, I felt like *&%$ for a few days which never happened when I was drinking daily. Someone here pointed out that it was a gift of contrast....experiencing a painful hangover after years of non-ending booze.
Well, today is day 4 again and I am doing well! I am actually not having any cravings today, and the headache from my slip up is still there although not as strong. Recalling how physically terrible I felt Saturday has been like cold water on my head. I have been drinking a ton of water, OJ, and cran juice bc I have been wanting it. Not sure if having a big glass of something is just from habit or if it is craving from dehydration.
I have been watching a lot less tv, and have been doing a lot of reading on here and in my big book. That has helped a lot too.
Anyway, thank you for all of your support, encouragement, and pushes! I am grateful for ALL of it! This site is a Godsend, and being clean 5 days tomorrow is something I had given up on a long time ago! Thank you Thank you!!!!!!!
Carla

I noticed that too. After going 2 weeks sober-(and quit smoking)-I drank and felt much worse than usual hangover. Drank for nearly a week before deciding no more. It was probably worse withdrawals than other time too. Almost 13 days now and no desire to go back to feeling like poop all the time. Keep it up!!

Yay Carla - you're going to get there! Thanks for letting us know. Isn't it great? You never have to go back to that place again.

Good for you, Carla!

I believe that each small change we make creates a ripple effect.

Nothing feels as good as waking up sober and feeling great.
