Well, I've been up literally all night with a screaming 8-year-old who has a nasty toothache. He has been crying and squirming all night. He's now laying next to me on the couch watching a movie until the Advil kicks in. It seems to be getting a little better...

Just had to write to share this because it occurred to me that a couple of months ago, I never would have heard him crying because I would have been passed out in bed. My husband would have been the one to get up even though he has to go to work tomorrow early in the morning. It feels so good to be a good mom and actually help my child!! It's moments like these that make me so proud of myself that I quit drinking! He now knows a completely different mom-- one that he can count on. Feels good!

Sorry your little one is so poorly but wow what a great mum you are. You always were a great mum the alcohol just told you different and insisted on coming first. You should be very proud of yourself

I have had many moments like that over the past year. That I was a good mother while I was drinking is definitely the top lie I told myself.

Hope you get him to the dentist this morning! Tooth aches are the worst!!

Thanks for the nice words. Yep... took him to the dentist first thing this morning and he had to have his tooth pulled because of an abscess. It was not fun, but he's doing ok now. Nice to go to the dentist and not be a hungover mess.
