Thank you
Thank you
I'm a double-winner .... the A's in my life are my mom, my dad, and now a fiance. The fiance is in recovery. Well, all of them are. Thank goodness.
I grew up dealing with my mother's active addiction and learned so much about myself in the process. I finally figured out that I couldn't fix her and I wasn't responsible for making sure she was eating, paying her rent, getting home safely, etc... Thankfully, she got sober. That sure helped my condition!
So, now I'm in this relationship with a man who is actively working a program. We both are. We've been together for two years now and it has been great. The best relationship I've ever been in when it comes to communication, trust, honesty, and mutual respect. I credit both our programs for that.
Sometimes, very rarely, but sometimes, I find myself wanting to tell my fiance what he should do .... like when it comes to something bothering him etc.
Thanks to you, I tend to catch myself before I get too far off track. I've learned so much from you people that work a great alanon program and it's helped me think before I speak many times or at least to shut my mouth when I should.
I just wanted to say thank you for helping me learn how to deal with alcoholics that we love in a sane way that allows me to take care of me AND have some serenity. Who woulda thunk it?
