Hello everybody!

I'm a newcomer (signed up to this forum jsut a couple days ago) and usually it's not easy for me to talk about myself as an addict, but I've nerved myself at last to tell hello to the people here. After all, reading and thinking about one's problems certainly helps to keep oneself sober, but if I've decided to join this community, I ought to be brave enough to talk as well.
Although by nature I'm quite talkative, it was never easy for me to admit the fact I'm addict, not to mention talking about my problems related to booze and drugs. Maybe only when I've hit the bottom in my fall I could call myself addict, but now, when I've been staying clear of all that mess for a while, I feel desire not to talk, not to think... in a word, to forget about all that nightmare.
Unfortunately, I know quite well that if one avoids any mention of his past problems, they tend to return with increased strenghth. That's why I decided to join your community. Hopefully, now also my community :-)
With best regards,
Shade

Hello, Shade. I am very new here, as well. Just ten days into sobriety, so I'm definitely not the person to ask for advice. Just wanted to say 'hello' back to you. I'm positive someone with much more experience and insight will be along to comment soon. Good luck.

to SR! I'm glad you joined us. I gave up drinking for good twenty months ago and don't miss it at all. I do better without it and feel better than I have in a long time.

You'll find a lot of support here.

Welcome Shadeofplato! I agree with you. Dealing with your past and what caused you to drink/use is imperative to your recovery. Thank you for your post!

Best Wishes To You!

I am new too (6 days sober) and I also have found that opening up and talking (well, I mean writing, I guess) about all of the issues surrounding drinking/sobriety/etc. really has helped me. Congrats on being here and being brave enough to share!

Welcome to SR!

You don't have to call yourself an addict if you don't feel like it. I think it's ok just to say that you need help. We are here to help and support you in any way we can.

I believe that recovery can only happen if the things that are in darkness come out into the light. It can be very hard, but there are millions of people happy to support you.

Best wishes
