Back from funeral
Back from funeral
Hi guys. I've been off list for about ten days. My sister died and I had to go to California. I did have alcohol--but I managed it well. I didn't have a single drink of anything until after the funeral--which I am very happy about. That would not have been possible a few months ago and it was important to me. But after the family became too much and while I knew I was giving in, I gave in. Still, I never got "drunk," and I never woke up feeling bad so that's positive.
Now I'm back home and feel really confused and lost. This was our first death in this generation--our parents and aunts, uncles, etc., are all dead. It opens a door I think. And of course we will miss our sister terribly (we are six sisters--kind of a badge of honor).
So I got a tattoo that I have always wanted--my only one--and I put her name in it. I will incorporate each sister I outlive.
So I'm here. That's all I can say right now.
Hi guys. Hope you are all well and happy.

Very sorry to hear about your loss Missy - hope you and yours are hanging in there. It definitely can be something terribly difficult to deal with...especially when trying to deal with sobriety because you want to escape.
My prayers and thoughts are with you right now.

As someone who's used drink to try and get through grief - there are no answers there - getting drunk or not, I still wasn't doing the best for myself or dealing with the situation.
I'm glad you're back with us Missy
