You made the right decision to come here. I was quite young when I realized I was an alcoholic. I didn't seek help however. I thought it would pass. I am now 44 and struggling with it. I would make an appointment with your physician if you can. If you have a family member you can talk to, talk about it. AA is a good place to start. If you quit now for good, you have a great chance of living a healthy happy life. Alcoholism is progressive. It will get worse. It can be a nightmare. Good luck
Hi Rondo
Welcome
If you've been drinking that regularly for that long, I recommend you see a Dr.
Detox can be rough for some of us.
As for what to expect - the physical part is discussed in this thread
http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...at-we-did.html
The mental elements - cravings anxiety depression, irritability- can happen to lesser or greater extents...but there are always support & ideas here Rondo.
You're not alone
Getting sober and staying that way was hard to do - but it was the best thing I ever did.
Good to have you with us
