My body isa itching EVERYWHERE - Its driving me totally crazy
Hey,
I just stopped drinking a few days ago from heavy drinking and I'm going out of my mind with itching everywhere...its constant.
I cant even sleep its so bad.
I have got to the point where I want to get 1 just to stop it..
I really hope someone know something that can help, please!

J Ireland I can tell you exactly what that is, it is your liver rebalancing itself and this is a common reaction, and I had it too. It goes after about a week and its a side effect of detoxification.
So go with it and be happy that the detox has started and your much abused liver, like mine, is doing its best to recover.

Yeah, I was itchy too. It didn't last long—and was a small price to pay for my freedom. A shower before bed helped a little.
Don't even think about getting a drink, because you'll have to go through this all over again. Plus I know for me, it would not have been just one....

I'm glad its not just me..
Is there anything apart from a shower to help?
One of my main reasons for stopping is after I got liver results..bad.
So I do know I have a liver problem.
Ive been online most of the day trying to find out how I can stop it, like you said jmcfee I really feel like ripping my skin off too.
I'm trying to only scratch / (vigorously) rub above clothes because I have already made myself bleed from scratching my arms.
I have tablets here that are anti-histamines that are also used to stop itching, but I read online they shouldn't be taken if you have liver problems..They are Phenergan, I just wanted to know if anyone else has taken anti-histamines with a liver problem has taken them or even if it is safe, I don't have the leaflet here from the packet, I have been looking everywhere.
The doc prescribed them for itching with psoriasis but it was before the liver results.
And yes...Im positive the psoriasis is making this a lot worse

((JIreland)) - I agree with talking to your dr. You can also call any pharmacist, tell them what's going on (including the high liver enzymes, that you've quit drinking, the psoriasis, etc.) and they can usually tell if a drug is okay or contraindicated. Personally, though, I'd call my dr.
Sorry you're going through this, but YAY for you on quitting drinking!
Hugs and prayers,
Amy

Ok didnt last long, well...won't. Now.
Had to use my girlfriends laptop (Who I live with) because mine died...first thing that came up was a google search:
"My boyfriend is dying but I want to leave"
On the next page.."How to transport a cat to usa" - I bought her a kitten as part of her birthday yesterday because shes wanted 1 a very long time.
Im hitting the bar.

And what will that help? Certainly not the girlfriend problem, liver problems, or itching problems!
But.. as alcoholics, we get it. We drink for no logical reason. We kill ourselves with liquor when it makes absolutely no sense.
I hope you come back.

It's not going to get better until you quit. It just won't.
Come back before it's too late
I really hope you changed your mind JIreland.
I remember for me there was always a reason to drink...looking back at that guy I was, I think it's a shame I felt so little of myself I could never find any reasons not to.

wishing won't do you any good....you have to realize that you SEEM TO BE LOOKING for an excuse to drink....itchy? drink. look at GF's laptop? drink...
perhaps some honest discussion with yourself first...before you think of another excuse.
I know all this, because I have done it too.
