I'm not in Houston, or even the United States, kmichael so I have no information to share.

Many places have free or low cost clinics if thats what you mean - google free clinic and your location perhaps? - although I presume you would need to ask specifically if they have the expertise to help you with the opiate problem.

I did find this website:

Welcome to SR in any case - you'll find a lot of support here

Welcome to SR Michael...Sorry to hear about your struggles. No advice, but keep coming back--this is a great support group. Maybe you could check yourself into a rehab?

There are clinics all around who could more than likely refer a doctor if they can't help you

You say that you have become dependent on prescribed opiates. This means that some physician or other qualified person has been prescribing this medication. Would it not make sense to consult this person and discuss the dependency and ways to deal with it? Make a transition to painkillers which do not foster a dependency? Consult your physician, get expert advice from that person or ask that person where you might be able to get expert advice. Good luck.
