inspiration?

Hi guys and gals of SR

How is everyone doing today? im on day 3 and feeling a bit better, slept ok had a few bad nightmares but at least i wasnt awake all night again

I was wondering if anyone had any inspirational songs or albums that help them through recovery and keep them motivated to carry on in sobriety?

I hope everyone is well, keep up the good work.

Fletch.

depends what you like, something with power and purpose or something brooding and smouldering to match your steely resolve ?

Eminem's Recovery was a huge part of my early days. I have vivid memories of driving around at night with the music blaring, tears streaming down my face.

I guess anything I listen to while sober is pretty darn inspirational. Anything I do sober is inspirational.

Mine is "Wake up Young Man" by Mad Season. (hence, my sig )

The singer who wrote the lyrics was named Layne Staley - previously of Alice in Chains. The song is about addiction and knowing that you need to stop but can't. I loved this song the first time I heard it about 14 years ago. (identify much?)

Layne died of an overdose in 2002. When I heard I remember being so pissed at the guy for so long. Dude, you know you have a problem, you know you gotta do something. I get it now, a lot better, but the lyrics remind me that is not enough, you have to actually DO IT.

Another one is "Change" by Blind Melon. "When life is hard, you have to change" simple, but so true.

How about you, Fletch? What's yours?

Nice one cerberus, im so gonna go find those songs, there some seriously inspiring lyrics!

Another one i really like is procol harum- A lighter shade of pale. I have no idea why, the lyrics are very strange but i guess it just speaks to me.

Madness or Ian Dury always cheer me up - assuming you don't get triggered by either artist....

But honestly, most of my inspiration came, and still comes, from the folks here
