the wolf
I just saw this and thought I would share. Sometimes life seems to get so complicated, but this is one of those things that clears it all up:
An elder Apache was teaching his grandchildren about life.
He said to them,"A fight is going on inside me; it is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One wolf represents fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, competition, superiority, and ego. The other stands for joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity, humility, kindness, friendship, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. This same fight is going on inside you, and inside every other person too."
They thought about it for a minute and then one child asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"
The old Grandpa simply replied, "The one you feed.

I was told this story many years ago by an Elder of the Lakota tribe (I am 1/4 Sioux Indian) and that story remains an integral part of my recovery to this day.
Thank you for bringing it to the forefront again. Haven't seen it on SR in several years.
Love and hugs,

It is really great.
Sometimes I am confused between acknowleding and feeling an emotion and getting stuck on it/feeding it.
I can deny and avoid my dark feelings. I also can get stuck with them.
Finding the middle place is a challenge!
