Al-Anon and SR sayings...
Al-Anon and SR sayings...
There are huge amounts of wisdom and sometimes humor in the sayings that you hear so often and get posted.
So this is kind of like the quakers thread except things we say and have heard. I'll start with a couple:
The difference between a codie and a pitbull is the pitbull knows when to let go.
If nothing changes, nothing changes.
Al-anon and of course SR, where a group of total strangers get together to reminisce.
Let go or be dragged.
Your friend,

Your friend,
If you want something different, you have to be willing to DO something different!
No Matter what me & my God are going to be OK, even better than OK!

It's not what you get done in a day, it's HOW you get through your day.
Put your life in the hands of God, and tie your camel to a tree.
And this one brings me lots of serenity:
My relationships are NONE of my business.

A few more I found:
"If it wasn't for denial my life would be sh1t."
"Change only happens when the pain of holding on is greater than the fear of letting go."
"Religion is for people who are afraid they'll go to hell. Spirituality is for people who have been there."
"The only way to have gratitude is to live in the now, not in the past or the future."
"Control is only an illusion."
"I am not responsible for other people’s happiness."
"There are no mistakes, only lessons."

The higher my expectations, the lower my serenity.
HALT...don't get too hungry, angry, lonely, or tired.
Live in the moment.
If you have one foot in yesterday and the other foot in tomorrow, you're in perfect position to pee all over today.

Tears are for the soul what soap is for the body.
Religion is man-made. Spirituality is God-given.
Happiness is an inside job.
Courage isn't absence of fear. It's taking action in spite of the fear.
The only way to get past the pain is to walk through it.

Oh yeah, the sayings in quotes that I posted are from MORE Sayings, Slogans and Acronyms
Want to be fair and cite the reference. The rest are just ones I've heard and read from who knows where.

This is an awesome thread!
One of the one's that I got from SR really used when I first came here....
"Play the tape all the way through."
I also like "If you're going through hell - keep going!" I think someone has it as a tag line.

Hamlet said, "There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so." I have appreciated that for years, but especially with the A.
Live passionately.
-- Not a quote as far as I know but very good advice nevertheless. It dragged me out of some single parent doldrums more than a few times.
