This morning, I decided to quit.
I'm a newbie, so I'm not even sure if this is where I'm supposed to post. I wasn't going to. But.... I figured what the heck. I'm about 12 hours into deciding to try and not do coke any more....... decided that since I've said that a few times in the past few months, I'd try and find an online support system, since that has helped with other things before. In a weak moment, hopefully I can come here. It's only been coke for about the past 6 months, but a few years of percocets & oxy's before that. Hubby & I thought we were doing good, using coke to get off the pills, which worked..... and I'm not really an addictive personality, so I think quitting coke is possible, except my hubby IS an addict and can't stop, so he's always bringing it to me when he's weak.... and I can't say no to it if it's right there!!!!!! If it's not, I'm good, but if it's there.....it begs to be taken care of and there's no way you can talk yourself out of doing it.
ANYWAY....anybody out there? Thanks in advance.

Hi and Welcome,
I'm glad you have found us and hope you will continue to read and post.
I think recovery involves learning to talk yourself out of using drugs/alcohol because they're there. It's not easy, but there is lots of support here.

Congratulations !!!
You have, successfully, taken the first step......and it's a big one and, probably the hardest one.....Hitting bottom is rough, but the ride UP is one fantastic ride.....As I was told, upon coming in...."Shut UP and Be Willing To Take Direction and Great Things Will Happen To You....and he was right. It has been the greatest experience of my 62 years....and to think, it took me 43 years of using to finally come in and get clean! Don't give up and remember, you CAN"T go back to OLD PEOPLE, PLACES OR THINGS!!! ONE DAY AT A TIME !!!
I gave up coke on martin luther king day of 2003. Do you have a plan for your real time life? I think you made the right move by deciding to stop and by coming here. A real life support group and a way to keep it out of your hands is a good idea for success, as well.
I'm here to interact with folks in the alcoholic forums, because that is the demon I confronted three and a half weeks ago. My affair with blow is very long ago now... but I wanted to respond to your post to say welcome, and keep coming back. Sometimes it is one second at a time, one minute at a time, one day at a time...
and remember, all of that time is yours. glad you're here.
