Hangover without the drinking?
So I am pretty new here, not completely got a "plan" or anything of the sort, I am still getting my head around the fact that I'm only 20 and I already drink a lot more than I should be drinking.
I managed two days last week without alcohol and I felt pretty awful and zombie-like during the days. Then the weekend came around and I completely forgot about the "not drinking" thing because it was all my mind was set on. Needless to say, I did go completely overboard.
But last night I stuck it out and didn't drink at all. I thought I'd just sleep and wake up feeling refreshed.. It took me over 3 hours to sleep properly, I had the most awful dreams, I kept waking up on/off and when I finally go out of bed I felt like a train had hit me.
I actually feel like I drank about 5 gallons of something high in percentage last night haha, but I was completely sober? Does this happen when you're so used to drinking? Sober nights of sleep are extremely rare for me and when I do sleep sober I wake up feeling terrible.
My head is banging, I feel really dehydrated, I nearly threw up and just generally feel like I would if I'd been drinking a lot the night before..
It's putting me off. At least when I'm drunk I can just pass out and wake up easily. It's been a struggle today. I don't want to keep waking up like this, bleugh.
I dunno what I'm babbling on about, I guess I'm just wondering if these bad nights of sleep/feeling sick throughout the day is common?

kelly it is called detox, and is very uncomfortable for about three days to a week. Then it gets better. Try 30 days and see what I mean. That does go away. Most people use their doctor or a doctor for detox just in case as withdrawal can be dangerous for some. We don't give medical advice here so if you decide to give sobriety a 30 day run it is wise to do so with a doc helping advise.

Hey there,
When you drink frequently and then quit drinking, your sleep will definitely be messed up for a few days. You have to get through it and then you'll feel a lot better, I promise. Just to give you some background, I'm a 24f. I drank, what I thought was, normally, in college. Now I look back and realize how crazy my friends and I were at times. Now I'm making a significant effort to completely quit. I'm currently at 8 days sober.
If you can, do yourself a favor and stop now. It only gets more complicated and more difficult the longer you drink.
I think what you're experiencing is probably pretty normal for someone who drinks a significant amount, but normal does not make it healthy.
Make smart choices!
And welcome to the site :-)

Thanks for the link I read (most of) it and it seems very familiar haha. Yeah hopefully it'll just take a bit of time.
The weird dreams and inability to stay sleep or fall asleep is getting on my nerves. I've been trying for the last 3 hours to sleep and I nearly cried so I gave up and came on here haha. I am so shattered though.
At least it's a common thing though!
