Sleeping..........Is Crucial!

For whatever reason, I've found sleeping and eating properly are huge factors in me staying sober. If I take care of those two basic things, I've found I'm much more likely to stay sober. I know it must sound like common sense, but man, it's paying HUGE dividends right now.

Me too, 8 to 9 hours a night for me and healthy, slow energy releasing foods make me feel SO much better and so much more in control.

Exactly. It's almost as if I actually have a "level head" throughout the day. And you know what? I sometimes *gasp* feel HAPPY without the aid of drugs and alcohol.

Yeah, I'm a much better employee, son, heck..........person in general when I'm sober. I can actually contribute in life, rather than just taking, taking, and taking.

When we stop drinking, we feel better, when we eat and sleep better we get better, when we feel better, sobriety goes smoother and we are happy. Oh, such a vicious cycle.

And the quality of sleep, isn't it amazing? I feel so rested when I wake up.

The nap in the middle of the day helps too.

My pdoc is constantly drumming this into me, proper sleep and eating is important, some fresh air and exercise, etc. May seem obvious to some but alcoholics are not exactly good at self care, we have spent so much time pushing beyond our own healthy boundaries, it's as if we have to relearn how to listen to our bodies.
