Hello, I am new...

Hi everyone, my name is Elisabeth and I am an alcoholic. Today is day 15.

I hit bottom in a lot of the common ways: jails and institutions, and I don't want to die. I am ready to start a new life in recovery and AA and hope my marriage can be salvaged. I am not sure it can though as my husband is verbally abusive. I have put him through hell, yes, but I am not going to be able to take the yelling and cussing if I am to stay in recovery.

I am praying every day for him to have some peace and serenity.

I really enjoy the posts and support all of you guys have to offer and look forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome Elisabeth!

Congrats on the day 15.

You don't have to take the yelling and cussing. Preacher, counselor... somebody that could help there?

Take care and welcome again,
TB

Thirty, he won't see a counselor. This is "all my problem and my fault". I have only been home a week so I am hoping the relationship can start mending. I have been approved or disability so I plan to bank that money for a future course of action if necessary.

Welcome

I know when I got sober, it literally was 'sobering' to see what was going on in my life for the first time with clear eyes, clear mind. I made a lot of changes in my life, including what I would tolerate from the relationships I had with people. A lot of people that I found to be toxic to my serenity had to go.. I was fighting for my life, and had to prioritize my needs rather quickly.

Abuse is abuse.. and it's up to you whether or not you want to live with it or not.

Congrats on making one of the best changes in your life

Welcome to SR Elizabeth!

I know it's hard to make yourself the absolute center, but I think that's what you'll have to do. You need to build yourself a little shell and don't let anything in there that might damage what you have done.

Did you drink with your husband? Is he still drinking?

Congratulations on your fifteen days.

Welcome! Congrats on 15 days, it's a big accomplishment, and I'm proud of you!

As for the abuse, I know nobody can tell you what's right for YOU, but I'll be praying that whatever is right will happen, and you'll have the strength you need. *hugs*

Thanks everyone!

He is currently not drinking.

I am just going to focus on my sobriety like you all said. That is all I can do right now.
