Furious with myself

After 46 days sober I slipped today. Hard to say it was unexpected as we tend to plan these things out (either consciously or un consciously). Have not attended many meetings in the last week and the few I did go to I left early. I have been struggling with turning my will over and took it back full force today. Look where that got me. I guess it is back to the grind, with my new 24 hour chip that I will pick up tomorrow. I dread having to admit this in a meeting but I know I am not the first.

Get to that meeting. Make a plan to figure out what to do different this time. You can do this. Good luck.

Sorry to hear that, but glad you came right back here. I definitely don't think you should dread talking about it. Sounds like you've got a good perspective on it.

Sorry to hear that, learn from your mistake and get back at it. You can do it!

At least you know where you slipped up a little Bob.

I think most of us underestimated the task, or got a little complacent at the start a time or two - I know I did.

Glad you're back

Yeah, I did the same thing at 39 days the first time. Good luck, and glad that you are bouncing right back!

Are you struggling with a decision to turn you will and life over to the God of your understanding? Or are you struggling with whether you still have power, choice and control over your drinking? Once I fully understood that I could not keep myself sober, making a decision (and then following through with action on that decision) was easy. Susan

I would love to hear how you feel today. Are you feeling optimistic? Do you feel strong in your recovery?

I'm glad you're back and working on your recovery.

In my opinion, it's important to look at what happened to cause the slip because I agree with you that, one way or another, we plan these things. It doesn't have to happen again.

ITA with all that's been posted. And I would like to re-emphasize the need to take stock and see where things went amiss. Sometimes we think we have it all figured out (me included!) but in reality a big shift in thinking/perception/behavior is necessary and will pay huge dividends on a daily basis in keeping us focused on sobriety. Hope that makes sense and all the best on your journey...

Thanks

I appreciate all of the supportive words. I have pulled it together and spent time with my sponsor yesterday. He had a lot of insight as well.
