The CODIE Dogsitter....

It's funny cuz' my RABF says I am *NOT* codependent

andhoo - he's 8000 miles away - what does HE know?

SO '
it's almost week three with the dogsitting thing
and I've had to bring in another person
to take over one feeding per day
because the state of the house
has made me sick.

The constant rain and snow
has made it so that I can't spend time
in the house with the dogs
but also can't go outside with them.

So this person who the owner knows
and has known for years
is taking over the morning duty
because I literally couldn't get out of bed
one day last week from the allergie thing.

Never had it that bad before.

My eyes were swollen almost shut
had a TB Ward kind of cough
and a 'thing' in the back of my throat
that I couldn't dislodge
something like that makes you nuts.

I kind of had a ... meeting ...
with the woman who is supposed to be cleaning the place.
I asked her why she doesn't vacume every day.

She said she only vacumes once a week.
I said that's not enough.
She said that's all she's ever done.
I said that's why everyone is sick.
She said she vacumes once a week.
I ended it with noting she's lucky he pays her
because no one else would.

Basically -
she's not been coming because he's on vacation
and she wasn't expecting so many other people
to be in the house
to witness her not doing what she's paid to do.

Then I took my phone and let her watch me
photograph the house
wrote "hi, J" on the coffee table in the dust
and then wrote the date on the television
with my finger in the dust.

and told her I'm sending it to him in France.

He can then decide what he wants to do
when he gets back.
But while *I* am in charge
the place is getting vacumed every day.

I used to won a cleaning service
you don't 'do' someone's house
and not vacume.
He's getting ripped off by this woman.
Period.

SO My OTHER friend just got given
and brand new vacume
and gave it to me.
She's got this 2000$ vacume herself
and doesn't need it.
I took it over to the house
and made a chart
put it on the fridge
and we mark when we vacume.

I got a mask
and am going to vacume today.
FUnny how it showed up
right when I needed it.

I'm not known for my 'de-escalation' skills.

But I bet I can be in the house
by the end of the week, too.

SO far the dogs have learned the word 'no'
and 'sh!' (that's for the barking one)
and 'down'
and neither jumps on me any more.

they're still jumping on other people, though.

*sigh*

and it's only halfway through the month.

They *are very addictive personalities, though
because I miss not seeing them twice a day
and they miss me.
But their manners have gone from a 2 to a 7
and that's progress.

LOL

With two dogs.. vacuuming once a week is not enough at all. I've got three.. it's that shedding time of year as well, so wow what a mess just from dog hair, let alone the lets chew up the stuffed toys and leave them "gutless" game.

I try to vacuum at the very least every other day.

I too love to vacuum. And mow. And paint. Things that leave an obvious sign of clean and fresh...

Barb can I send my codie dog to you? She needs help...seriously...she's completely neurotic. And very short haired so little shedding.

Let me send mine along for the ride. He has codie issues (I wonder why ) that need your tender touch. OK, he sheds somewhat (beagle/spaniel/pug mix), has to be fed at 5pm sharp and hogs the bed.........

I love how you took charge, Barb. Hope the vacuuming helps the allergies and that you feel better really soon!

(((Barb)))) - way to take control of things!!

I can personally tell you, (((Anvil))) is practically attached to her Dyson. She has a vacuum cleaner cemetery in her garage, when she finally decided to go ahead and get the Dyson. I can't TELL you how many e-mails I've gotten from her when she's just had the Dyson out

Not that I'm betraying a confidence or anything, but let me tell you....her way of "relaxing" is cleaning and THEN sitting down. Oh, how I wish I had her energy.....sigh.

BTW, whenever I finally get my own place, since I will be taking my 3 cats with me, found out that WalMart has Dyson's and though they aren't cheap, they're not nearly as expensive as I thought!

Glad you have taught the dogs a few things...the owner is going to be amazed by the time he gets home

Love, hugs, and prayers,

Amy

If I don't vacuum enough, my cat Freya will start eating whatever is on the carpet, including my hair that I've shed, and then it gives her dingleberries.

What a great incentive to vacuum. :P

Way to get that not-so-cleaning-person in line, Barb! and it's great the doggies love you too! enough to improve their manners!

I *think* we may have some actual sunlight today
so I'll get over there early today
and run the 'hosepipe' over the furniture
and along the baseboards...

my eyes were swollen today
and it made me sleep longer
(when they swell up I 'think' I'm still sleepy
and I tend to oversleep)

but I know the 'morning woman'
is over there now and probably won't be leaving until four or so.

Then I'll go over.

I know she'll have the house open too
and that will be a great help.

It's COLD outside though.
That's a rag.
