The lyrics address a very different scenario, but I always find Bruce Springsteen's
"Born to Run"
very uplifting

Or if you like a bit of reverse psychology:
"I am a Rock"
by Paul Simon
... but then you might anticipate some Simon & Garfunkel from me !

Here is something you all might like.

His name is DubFX and makes all the music with his voice / Rolands FX and a loop machine.

His voice and lyrics are powerful.

The song deja vu by eminem hits close to home for me. Also all of his recovery album. This is assuming rap is up your alley.

AllLiesAndJest, your name reminded me how much that song reminds me of my struggles with addiction (which I assume is partly why you chose the name to begin with )...particularly the last verse:
In the clearing stands a boxer and a fighter by his trade and he carries the reminders of every glove that laid him down or cut him till he cried out in his anger and his shame "I am leaving, I am leaving" but the fighter still remains...

I don't think I qualify for baby boomer status - but I do love the music! (I'm 25...but I'm an old soul!)

Ryan,
I'm a lot older than you but have been a musician most of my life and that was one great song and lyrics that I never would have "heard" had you not posted it. I like that the lyrics are posted while the song is going too. I also never did Country much until Garth and one or two others came along, so I "learned" to like the artists later in life than my rock and metal.

For a song of inspiration, "The River" by Garth remains one of my favorites:

BC Boy I loved the Dub FX songs you posted. I was also a big fan of Shaggy when he came out in the 90's, and his vocals remind me a lot of him too. I have all of DubFX's Yiutube music bookmarked now. Like the song BCBoy posted I would have never listened had you not posted it here.
Thanks.

I sure hope that everyone took the time for each song posted, as they were new to me and still worth the time for a full listen. And I hope we see more posted.
