Hey I'm a noob again ;) :(

Hi all, Well I got my 15 year chip last Monday, got drunk on Wednesday. Found out my wife of 26 years has an incurable cancer and a short time to live. I DO hope nobody sees this as a legitimate reason to drink, It wasn't. We all have a breaking point and I hit mine. Anyway my sober life is just too precious for me to give up on. I still have many people in my life I NEED to live for and set an example (children and grand children) Hope you all can forgive my human frailty and help me get back where I need to be. First step here I come again.

Ron

Ron, I'm really sorry to hear about your wife's illness. I don't think you need to ask for forgiveness but if that is what you need then you are definately forgiven in my book.

How odd! To have the acceptance of people you've never met mean so much.

THANK YOU ALL!!!

Ron,
I am so very sorry. I will say a prayer for you and for your family. There is nothing to forgive; you need not ask our forgiveness here on the SR forum. The person I suspect you need to forgive is yourself. You already know what you need to do.

Prayers for you, your wife and family. God bless you and give you the strength you need now and in the days ahead. You are very brave, very humble and very strong.

Thanks for the reminder I am not immune no matter how many years I gain in sobriety.

Take care and good luck with starting over.

My prayers for you and your family.

Sending love and prayers out west to you, Ron. So very sorry to hear the news, and it's completely understandable that you fell back on your old comforter. You'll turn it around, though - no doubt about it.

what heartrending news. You know already that if we need sobriety when life is going well, we need it just that much more when it hits the fan.

hugs
