Affordable addiction counselling

Hi! RenewLife and I'm an alcoholic!

This is my first post, although I joined some time ago. I've used chat a few times and the guys there really helped getting me organized with finding local AA meetings. :-)

I was wondering if anyone happens to know of any affordable alcoholism/addiction counseling resources? Whether its by phone, online or face-to-face, or organizations that could help point me in the right direction. Any information would be greatly appreciated! I have no insurance and can't afford to pay lots for alcoholism counseling.

I really thought there would be something non-profit out there in the way of therapy but I've come up with nothing.

If anyone has any info I'd love to hear about it! And I hope I'm not violating the etiquette of the site asking this question. Fingers crossed!

Thanks in advance!

I truly don't know if there is a non-profit for therapy for adults. I know they have it to children but you wouldn't be able to use it. A lot of people use AA SOS and SMARTS because it's free.

Do you know anyone that your very close to that you can talk about your problems. I know it's hard to do but sometimes like feel good to talk to someone about your problems.

Welcome!! In the US, your local county community mental health could possibly help you. They would be listed in the phone book in the blue government pages under county.

There was only one clinic in my area. I didn't have much of a choice! LOL
Mine was funded thru the state because I had lost my job. All I paid for was books. I didn't have insurance either. Maybe you can look into something like that.
I would think you'd want to stay in your area? Call your doctors office and ask -they can help.
