Day 36 and....

I just got home from a birthday party with friends that took place in a night club. Danced all night and had a fabulous time... SOBER. Probably drank about 100 more energy drinks than I should of and will be up for the next 45 days but I feel great about tonight. Didn't even consider drinking once. Thanks for all the support you guys have given me thus far... For those times that have been tough, I really couldn't have done it without the kind words and encouragement from those who GET it.... All of you.

Well done! I had the same experience on Friday. I don't think I've ever danced sober on a night out. It's a great feeling isn't it?? I had so much energy, could have gone on past the 1am it was!

Great job!

Thanks guys!!

Totally know what you mean newwings... It's funny, the amount you seem to be able to have fun sober -- it's a wonder how alcohol ever sneaks back in there?? At the time you really feel like "why haven't I been doing this all along?"

Great job to you as well!

Congratulations SG! Sounds like you had lots of fun! I love feeling freer in sobriety and clear-headed. Balance sure helps with dancing, too!

One of my favorite things to do is go out dancing and listen to live bands. I was bummed thinking I would never be able to do it as my favorite bands are at night clubs. I am glad you posted this. At least I know that there is a chance that I can.

Yes, I was unsure whether it would be the experience I was hoping for, but not because of the alcohol temptation, more that I'm the kind of person to have to have a few drinks in me to really loosen up, especially when dancing. Initially I have to admit I felt a bit wooden and self conscious, but that was only within myself and not obvious to anyone else. It didn't take long though, for the vibe to get to me, and within 4 songs, I was rocking with the best of them!

And to be honest, it was even better sober. I was interested in what the musicians were actually doing, as apposed to just dancing my aZZ off with drunken friends. I learnt a lot of bass technique that night (I've just started to learn) and appreciated the music more. Plus my energy levels were through the roof! When you feel ready, give it a try!
