It is so time to be done...

18 beers tonight, around 1am AH started in on 15yo, trying to convince him to drive AH to Walmart to buy stereo equipment. 15yo stood his ground, continually saying no. I kept telling AH he didn't want to go, ah just wouldn't listen. Kept badgering and picking, but son held his ground. I'm proud of him.

I didn't lose it tonight throughout all of it. Stayed calm, didn't engage(which I know was what he wanted) He finally passed out about 20 minutes ago.

I DID call about an apartment today, it's available immediately, inexpensive rent, and all I would have to pay for necessary utilities is electricity. I'm going in on Tuesday to look at it. As long as it's not a complete crap hole, I'm taking it.

Yes...... when you are done, you are done.
Hope all is well with that apartment, and if not, keep looking.
I moved many times and regardless of nuisances, peace is totally worth it.

Good job disengaging!

I'm calling about a few other apartments tomorrow, as back ups. I just had to get over the guilty feeling I was having about him actually fixing my van. Yep, over it.

ugh, i KNOW how those manipulations work-with the badgering and they're tough on fully mature adults... i feel sick that your 15 year old had to go through it. I hope he's ok

congrats on being done

Good luck with the apartment. I'm moving out today into my own apartment so I know exactly what your going through. Its difficult to find the strength to make a decision like that but if you're like me once you made it you KNEW it was right.

I think he's okay, we were both really tired after AH finally passed out, so we didn't really talk. I'll do it today. Did make a deal that I would let him sleep in if he would watch his brothers so I could take a nap.

I was appalled at his behavior with DS, it was over something so stupid, stereo equipment for what will be DS's car. Said if DS didn't bring him, he'd never see the money he was 'about to spend' on the stuff. Didn't get violent or anything, just wouldn't leave him alone. No idea why he wanted to go to Walmart so badly, especially at 1am in the morning.

AH actually went to drill, I woke up at 6:50 to him stumbling around the house. So that's about 4 hours of sleep he got.

So glad you're planning on leaving. When they start in on the kids, it's time to make your move. No child should have to deal with badgering and drunkenness.

You're right, I guess I always thought he'd leave the kids alone, that only I would be the recipient of his crap. I felt like he was punching me in the gut the whole time he was badgering DS.

I can tell I was exhausted (mentally and physically) in that first post..I meant I called yesterday afternoon about an apartment.

I still really wish I'd managed to stay out last time, but this time I WILL stay out, signing a lease, the whole nine yards. I am not moving back into this house once I'm out.

No, not in my state, plus he still had 6 cans left in the case he bought. And at 1am, it would've been too late to get to a liquor store too.
