Day 1 - newcommer here
This seems to be an active site so that is a positive sign for me.
There is a lot of information here to read through. So I will be looking today at where to start.
I do not understand The Class of "XX". Am I to join or be assigned to a class?
Does a group hold a chat meeting online?
Any guidance would be helpful.

Welcome to the group nc2nh, the class of X month is to give you a chance to get on a common thread with people in the same "quit" window as you. You aren't assigned one and don't have to post there but it can be very helpful.
We have various 'classes' (clubs) for each month that people get sober. If you're starting your sober journey this month feel free to post in the class of May for added support and encouragement. Welcome to the family!
Welcome! Good to have you with us! This is a great place to come for support. Congratulations on day 1!
(We do have a chat room that's always available - look on the blue bar towards the righthand side.)

Welcome!
The class threads are so you can talk to people with the same month starting out as you, but there's no rules to it.
I have been a serial jumper of "classes", going all the way back to July 2008. I am now a card carrying member of the Class of March 2011, and plan on sticking with that one for good.

Welcome NC2NH!!
You will get a lot of great info on SR; please keep posting! I know that for me, sitting in front of my pc has kept my hands occupied enough to not have the desire to use anything.
You will find people here with years of clean time as well as people with an hour of sobriety - we're all different but the important thing to hang onto is the knowledge that you're not alone in this battle!
Best of luck to you and keep posting!

Hey bud awesome on day 1! Your taking that step in the right direction believe me! 3 weeks ago today, I took that very same step.
You commented on how you like how active this place is. Well it is VERY active. So active sometimes I find myself spending hours on here reading others posts.
But yes welcome my friend! Im new here as well too. Only 3 weeks sober but loving everyday of it. If you ever have a question or just wanna shoot the breeze send me a PM. I might be a little insightful for whats ahead of you.
Alright stay strong bud!
