Rehab on Tuesday

Leaving Tuesday...It's a year long program. Alcohol has rendered me unemployed and now homeless, kids are gone with my husband...hopefully to return to me when I get straight. End of the month I officially have no home.

Friends, until Tuesday I will be checking the boards and posting. If I get sick from the withdrawal I will go to the ER...But so far so good...minor things, shakes/sweats, no big deal.

If you think..."It can't happen to me"...think again, folks. Any terrible thing is possible...just add alcohol.

I am really reflecting on this. I have gone from professional, upper middle class, soccar mom, who loved to read, hike, ... to unemployed, homeless, sick, estranged mother to my kids...all because of drinking. Nowhere to go but up from here.

It's awful what this disease does to us and I'm sorry for what you're going through.

I hope you can keep in touch during your treatment and let us know how you're doing.

Pinkroses, the life of an active alcoholic only goes from bad to worse. The never ending periods of alcohol withdrawal only get worse as time marches on. The brief period of alcoholic bliss is quickly replaced by an anxiety and deep depression that seems to have only one cure.....more alcohol.

I'm glad to hear that you've had enough of all that nonsense. Good luck and keep posting from the facility if you have access to a computer.

Pink Roses

You have been on my mind since the first post I read of yours last week. I am so relieved that you've got a bed and are about to receive the help YOU sought. That speaks volumes about you as a person. To me it shows strength and intelligence, and the ability to see the possibilities.

Prayers for you. I will think good thoughts for you and hope you can check back here when you are able.

All the best....

So glad you're going to treatment! When I went in, it felt good to be safe and have that time to work on myself. I had no idea how much it would help me. Hugs and prayers..... and I hope you drop in to say hello once in a while!:ghug3

PinkRoses, it's the start of something good!! This may sound awful to you right now, but I think you are really lucky you can have a year of rehab. I have a drug addict in my family and it is VERY very hard to get into residential treatment. Even with insurance, they stop paying within two weeks. And beds are hard to come by.

If you have a place to go, it's a blessing. Consider it time for YOU!! And give yourself two weeks to adjust to the change. (That's my motto about everything in general.)

I hope all goes well for you and you work your way back to the life you want!

Safe journey, PR. And it really is a journey you're on—with peace, contentment and smiling kids waiting for you on the other side. I hope you can continue to post along the way.

I wish you all the best. I have been home one week after completing a 6 week rehab. You may feel like you've lost it all now, but after your treatment you will be equipped with the tools to get it all back and more.

I am proud of you for getting help, it will be a life changing experience for you. For the better.
