Last day of drinking.....
Hello all,
I'm making a brief post. Not sure who Im intending this for, probably me most of all. But I'm getting ready to walk out the door, have a few drinks, treat myself to a really good dinner, then starting tomorrow I'm all done with it. I'm on the wagon.
I know we have all at one time or another said that, "tomorrow". But I mean it. And I'm in the hopes that you will all be part of holding me accountable to myself. I intend to come back here each and every day, begining tomorrow, to leave a brief post of another day of sobriety.
So, I hope this is good enough for all of you, and for myself first and foremost.
I'll be posting again tomorrow. Until then God bess you all and thank you.
Jay

Yep, I'll be here, too! And I might even PM you if you don't come back, WTD!! Can't say I'm envious of your position....I'm having a 22nd evening clear headed and feeling better than I have done for the last 20 years..I wouldn't change it for the world. I love being like it TODAY. Here's hoping tonight IS the last night for you, matey. Good luck.

A last day of drinking....make that a last week of drinking....or better yet, let me go through the seasons and have a last year of drinking...or even better, a last decade of drinking. I mean it. On May 11, 2022, I will have my last drink!
Welcome Jay.
I hope you are strictly doing this for yourself. It never seemed to work for me when I did it for any other reason -or involved anyone else. I had to change my mind and my heart once and for all -for me. Losing my job had a major factor in that decision but I could have gone the other way and had a pity party for myself. I didn't -I quit and hold myself ultimately accountable for every action, every thought and choice I make.
I am here to give and receive support not to place blame and guilt.
Accountability has to lie within your own conscious.
Wishing you a satisfying 'last supper' -return and post so we know you're ok!

We share our experience here.
Based on my experience, I wouldn't be doing you a favour telling you (or anyone else reading) that it was a good idea....but in the end, like anything else, it's your call, man.
see you tomorrow, Jay.

Good luck Jay! Come back tomorrow and celebrate your first day. Take all the encouragement you will absolutely get. I joined this site on day 7 and feel totally at home. And what's more I can't wait to get on here each day and add another day to my sober days. Everyone is so encouraging and congratulatory when you succeed and from what I see - understanding when you don't. Go for it - you aren't alone. Everyone is here to help :-)
Good luck Jay, I have been sober for 4 months it was my first and only time of deciding to quit for good and I planned a date got all my ducks in a row, dr, safe environment to detox and it was the best decision., look forward to your updates daily!

Jay, after reading your post again, I appologize for my earlier comment. You asking for others to hold you accountable to your sobriety is exactly what I did. I tried to make my boss and employer hold me accountable, and my loved ones. Ultimately, some tried but they all failed. In the end it is you, and you alone, who can hold yourself accountable. You have to do this for yourself, not your job, loved ones or SR. You and you alone will get yourself sober. We can only offer advice and support. Hope to see you today.
There is so much support on here if you need it, but the only person who can really support you is you, only you know if you will suceed. Determination, motivation, desire, need, and wanting to stop will go a long way to being successful.
