The Horror

Well, I can't control my drinking. Even when faced with all the losses I have racked up. So, I'm turning it over to God, moving out of this ******** and putting my stuff in storage, sub-leasing my car. I'm going into rehab for the next 3-6 months through the VA. Thank GOD I am a veteran and have these services available. I'm waiting to hear back from my case manager for placement...chain smoking and drinking like a fish, what an idiot I am.

You are not an idiot. You are very strong and courageous for facing up to this and making this decision. I hope everything works out well for you. Good luck. Prayers being sent your way.

No, Pink, how SMART you are!

I spent 90 days in a rehab seventeen years ago, and there was no looking back. I have been sober since. While in treatment, I listened and did everything they told me to do. I was a mess; living in a shack with no running water, no car, no job, seperated from family, no money and no prospects. I didn't even want to be seen and would throw my garbage out in the dark, during the wee hours, just so I wouldn't be seen.

What I learned through recovery is that the last thing you've lost is the first thing that comes back when sober. Work the program as if your life depends on it. (and it does)

Nothing but the best! Trust me, if I did it, you can do it!

And give yourself KUDOS for doing this!

....and thank you for your service to country!

Well acquainted with the VA system through brothers and my partner John - they provide quality care.....

Again, all the best.

Idiot? You're both brave and smart! You sound like someone who is about to change her life in a big way, and entirely for the better. You should be really proud of yourself.

I'm so relieved you're going to treatment, pink. :ghug3 You've fought this over and over like so many, and sometimes the best thing to do is to stop fighting and let others help you. You deserve it.

I agree about the ER, too (and I'm thinking it might even help you get in right away).

Prayers and hugs..... keep posting and let us know how you're doing.

PinkRoses, I've been following your posts since you joined...I have been your silent supporter in the wings (I wish I'd piped up before this, though!). We joined around the same time.

I have seen how much you have been struggling over the last few weeks, and I am so very, very glad to see you are taking this by the horns and doing rehab. You are ABSOLUTELY DOING THE RIGHT THING!! Please try and keep up with us in rehab if you can, but if you can't, I just want to let you know I will be thinking of you and sending you blessings and strength for your health, recovery and future happiness. Good luck, sweetie.
