Hello everyone. My names Ryan, and today is day 4 without a drink.
It hasn't been easy thats for sure, but Im doing it one day at a time as its said.
The first day was hell of course, and it seems to be getting easier (withdrawal wise) everyday. My biggest struggle I've been having is sleeping. For example, right now I've been awake for 29 hours strait. Oddly enough, I feel better now with the lack of sleep than I did a week ago waking up in a paranoia/anxiety because the withdrawal of alcohol while I slept. But I know this will all pass .
Just introducing myself, and all I can say is I'm keeping positive thoughts!

Welcome Ryan! Glad your here! I'm on day 9 and starting to sleep like a baby, other than staying up til around 1 which I have my whole life, just a night owl. But once i do get to sleep it has been better and better. It will come around.
Thank you all for the warm welcome! Yeah I just know deep down inside something needed to change in my life. I have been drinking for years, but only in this last year has it becoming extremely out of control. It was changing who I am as a person, my motivation, and overall taking care of normal responsibilities.
And if know if I dont change soon it will kill me.
Funny how I used to word soon in the above sentence. Because soon always means tomorrow. Let me change that word soon to today .

Welcome Ryan - the insomnia is really annoying (I also had really low energy at first). The good news is that it gets better and you're not damaging your body anymore.
I think I lived in a state of moderate anxiety while I was drinking - everything seemed so hard to deal with. I got some calm and strength after getting sober and you will too...... Glad you're joining us!
