22 months!
It's a "Good" Friday indeed! Today marks 22 months of sobriety. I'm grateful to wake up early every morning with a clear head. I can't believe all the crap that I used to live with while drinking. Easter weekend used to mean I could do some very serious drinking. This year, I'm looking forward to a sober weekend with friends and family. Yes, there will be some drinking by others, but that's their business. I'll just have a couple of sodas and enjoy myself, knowing that alcohol no longer has a hold on me, like it did for nearly 30 years.
For those of you still struggling, please know that if you quit, your life can get better too. If this old drunk can do it, anybody can.

No matter how crappy it is going, having a clear head, and doing the right hing works wonder. It is hard as heck to do the right thing, but the gifts are there if you are willing to accept them.

Congrats on 22 months FBL, Huge accomplishment for someone drinking for 30 years, be very proud of yourself.
Like you FBL I also drank for over 30 years and every day I get up w/o a hangover and a clear head I'm so grateful and never thought my life could be this good. Enjoy you're Easter weekend I know I will b/c I already got some eggs and one of those color kits, now all I have to do is figure out how to boil the eggs lol.

Yeah..time flies when you are in a daze! I too put in my time..30+ years. It does feel so good to be free..clear headed. I am extremely grateful. I had a friend stop over yesterday late afternoon. He didn't know I had quit drinking..he hates alcohol due to alcoholic parents but smoked weed daily. He quit. Several months have gone by. We talked alot about addiction. Zeroed in on sleeping..minds reel at night thinking of all the things that are easy to block out by either smoking or drinking. And day by day taking one thing at a time (after talking to him..in AA I imagine this would be amends) finding some resolution to either resolve the problem or realize you can't and never have been able to have any control and let it go. He had a list of things and was happy to have taken care of six things! I am so grateful to have the ability now to actually tune in ..really hear someone..it was nice. Congrats on your sober time!!!
