Spiritus contra spiritum: a youtube short

Hi all,
I saw this a few days ago, and it has stuck with me quite insistently.
On another thread, a poster mentioned how we are all essentially pleasure-seekers as addicts and alcoholics (or at least we start out that way).
This is a 5-minute short talking about Carl Jung's views on alcoholism, and I found it extremely interesting.
No matter each person's personal belief system, I feel it is an essential part of being human that we all seek some sort of connection with something larger than ourselves. Whether this is love, or God, or universe, or humanity, or the miracles of science, we all seek to find ecstatic meaning in our lives, to anchor them to something more exalted than the humdrum day-to-day.
I liked the idea that addiction is a warped and misguided way of seeking the experience of ecstasy: it helps me see my addiction in a new light, and helps me see how I can better channel that need into something that enriches - rather than kills - me.
I hope this brings some comfort or insight to someone.
Love,
Z.
