I'm New
Hello Everyone, I'm new here. I just created an account as of today. I heard about this service in my outpatient treatment... and wanted to see if this resource could help me maintain my sobriety for the long term. I last used February 15th... that night my wife confronted me, and I was forced to admit my use to her and to my parents. Since that day, I was forced to really look at myself and see that I did/do have a problem. I have been receiving outpatient treatment, 3 hours a day/4 days a week for about 4 weeks now. It's really helping me to see things in myself that may have led me down this path, and it's helping me to overcome those stressors and habits.
Anyways, just wanted to say hello... I'll be lurking and posting occasionally.

The Phrase welcome and keep coming ment a lot to me at your stage. AA is a simple program but not always easy. The oldtimers kept saying meetings, meetings and more meetings along with DON'T PICK UP THAT FIRST DRINK AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO GET SOBER AGAIN and remember it's one day at a time. BE WELL
Welcome gsh! Glad you're joining us - I love the support here and it's a huge help in part because it's at your fingertips 24/7..... you don't have to get dressed, drive anywhere, and can spend 5 minutes or 5 hours. It's just the best.....
Congrats on getting help and for your clean/sober time...... Depending on what your DOC was, we also have a section for substance abuse support.....
Hang in there!:ghug3

I've found S/R to be very helpful. In my world, there is no one sober or trying to be. Many do not really have a serious issue, but all users none the less. Here, many to talk with, that have either gone through or going through the same issues. Agreeing with Artsoul you don't even have to get dressed or drive anywhere. Hoping the best for you.
I've managed to stay clean since Dec. 10th. If I can anyone can.

Hi get and welcome. I have a brother down your way and a son in Statesville. I visited in 08. Beautiful country!
I did the out patient thing too. I was done on March 28 and I was actually sad to leave. LOL I had made it a part of my sober life and really enjoyed the support, people and stories. Take advantage of it. All you can. You get out of it what you put into it.
I wish you the best with the recovery...it does get easier. I'm at 66 days but I hear some are actually counting months and years! Wow.
Glad you're here.

Welcome to SR!! I lurked here, for over a year. It was when I signed on, started really reading and posting, that it really, really helped my recovery. I've been here a few years, have 4 years in recovery, but I seriously doubt I would have that if it weren't for the support I've received here, and some f2f people.
Something about knowing there is always someone here, is very comforting. I've come here with a crisis at 2 in the morning, and someone was always here to help me through it.
Hugs and prayers,
Amy
