I did it!

We had some friends over last night (old drinking friends) and I was able to have a great time and I only drank ICE TEA!! I had made the evening more difficult in my head than it actually was. I need to learn that not every function and get together is a test and just relax and enjoy the moment, without drinking.

Awesome job, Friend.

I gotta ask, though, did you have like a bizillion iced teas? Only curious...at social events I oftentimes find myself downing diet cokes with the same fervor I used to kill longnecks back in the day!

Way to go!!!!!

I did the run from California to Sturgis when I was 4 years sober, with some 'sober' bikers and had lots of fears on the trip up.

Once I got there, not only did I have a blast, I was actually amazed at how many 'sober biker clubs' were there, and that was 1985. I did it a few more times after that when I could get the time from work. There are many more that go now.

Once we find recovery, we can do anything SOBER.

However, I must admit that during my early recovery (about the first 2 years) I was very careful about what situations I put myself into.

Again, I am glad you could enjoy a 'get together' at your home without having to indulge!!!!!

Keep up the good work!!!

Love and hugs,

Great job. I haven't had any drinking friends over since I've quit. I have found myself in a bar a few times in the last few months and did pretty good with just my diet pepsi.
