Question This week-----will Friday make me weak?

Its Friday! My favorite day. During the week it is easy to say no to drugs or alcohol, because I work in a professional field were I have to meet clients and different political people. I don't want to be hung-over, and that can motivate me to stay clean during the weak....but its Friday.....pay day....happy hour day.......no work tomorrow day.

I know that I need to stay strong....and I feel amazing for the moment....strong, I hope that it can last through the weekend. I have tried to fill my weekend with things to do.... baseball game, doggie dates, and things as such! Keeping my fingers crossed!!

I am going to carry some post that I like around with me for support!!!!!

What worked well for me was changing routines.

Do something different when you leave work today, and plan for the evening so that you are not at loose ends.

You can do this!

Definitely could be a problem, if you let it......

You are the determinate. Don't react, think with your best interests in mind, and respond.

I'm worry about it too, thanks for posting because just reading about other people in the same boat helps me. You can do it and so can I!

Try a meeting right after work. Changing our routine gets us away from same old same old thinking.

Friday night will come and go..... and then there's Saturday morning. Just think about how you want to feel getting up tomorrow. The first weekend can be tough, but you can do it.... and you'll be so glad you did!

At 5:30 pm, I drove out of town to go to my farm... I purposely passed the two bars that sit neck to neck on the edge of town. There were about 20+ cars already in the parking lot between the two places. I thought to myself what a waste of money, time and energy...I know there isn't much to do around here but sitting on a barstool and drinking doesn't sound productive to me.
It's a beautiful weekend coming up and these folks will be wasted, wake up in the morning feeling like crap and not be able to appreciate another beautiful Spring day and be thankful for such small blessings.
Stay strong MMA, don't ruin it now.

It gets easier

Weekends were harder initially because I had no idea what to do other than drinking. Now my weekends are. Full and happy

weekends are hard but thats why you need a network of people to hang out with who are in recovery, you can go to meetings, or the best thing for me is do something I don't really feel like doing, cause there is ALWAYS something to do whether it be cleaning your room, car, fixing something.

This will be my first Friday night sober since last September. Was pretty nervous about it toward the end of the day at work, but it's really going quite well. I attribute a lot of that to this site.
