made it through friday...yayy! now trying to make it through saturday.
I want to thank all of you who posted on my comment and gave me words of encouragement; friday went well, thought the craving still lingered in my head it wasn't as pronounce. I did some school work; cooked spaghettis, played monopoly with my two young children, and I watched some good movies on cable. Today is going to be another mountain to climb, but I'm trying... I'm actually looking forward to tonight because I will have the house to myself- NO KIDS- Im going to watch Celebrity Ghost Stories tonight and drink some chamomille tea. I just hope and pray can make it through the day without giving into my desires.
You can definitely make it through the day.
Planning ahead and keeping busy can be very helpful. It's a bit cool here in the north-east, but we have beautiful sunshine. It could be a good day for getting outside and walking or playing with your kids.

Great job! It felt so good getting through some of those tough evenings.....definitely find something to treat yourself with tonight! (Sometimes I'll order out from a really nice restaurant.....yum). Keep going - it's gets a teeny bit easier each day.....................
Part of what's making it difficult for you, I suspect, is that you are "hoping and praying [you] can make it through the day without giving in" to your desires.
I found that that didn't work so well. I made drinking NOT AN OPTION. There was no question, in my mind, that I wasn't going to drink. Instead, I "hoped and prayed" it wouldn't be too uncomfortable and unpleasant. Whether it was, or it wasn't, however, "giving in" wasn't an option.
Guess what? Sometimes it was uncomfortable and unpleasant. I didn't die from the discomfort and unpleasantness of it. I didn't collapse in a sobbing heap (at least not for more than a matter of minutes).
You can do it. The discomfort and unpleasantness lessens every time you work through such an experience without picking up a drink.
Have you removed all the booze from the house? Would you at least have to exercise a modicum of effort to get some? That helped me--putting a few obstacles in my way so I couldn't give in to a momentary impulse.

Renting a good movie and making some popcorn is fun too.
It's funny, but sometimes I'll see a movie for the second time and I can't remember hardly anything about it. I must have drank it out of my memory! :P

Yay for you, Perfectly!!! Stay strong and great job on making it through Friday!
Yoli, I know exactly what you mean...my hubby and I love watching movies and I was pretty hammered and sometimes blacked out during some of them that it's like I never saw them...I can't believe he didn't say anything to me during those times...last night we watched one and since I was sober I remember the whole thing!

Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes:
Do or do not. There is no "try."

Good job perfectlyflawed. One weekend night down and one to go.
I'm happy for you and your kids. Stick with this and you'll see what a huge difference it makes with and around them.
Yep you can do it and I've got all the faith in the world that you will.
As Lexie said they do get easier as you get through them. Although it
won't feel that way at first. You are creating a new pattern to replace that
old pattern, so anything you do to change up your usual weekend can
be of great benefit to yourself besides just hanging in there and getting through it.
Positive thoughts your way also Saphira. Congrat's on being over half way there already!
