TODAY I am proud that...

I have no wine bottles, empty, full, or in-between, in my closet or anywhere in the house. But especially the closet. I am six days sober.

What are you proud of?

I am proud of the way I have learned to listen to my body and what it's trying to tell me. When I was drinking, it was just full-speed ahead. Recently I had been having pain in my right shoulder. Instead of just taking aspirin and ignoring it, I paid attention and figured out that it's a result of how I've been sitting when I use my laptop. Problem solved.

I am proud that I can look into my children's eyes and be absolutely present with them; good times and bad. I am there. And I no longer have to hold my breath so that they don't breathe my alcoholic fumes.

I'm proud that this is day 131 without alcohol.

What I'm not quite as proud of -- that there were thousands and thousands of days with alcohol before that.

I'm proud that around 4pm I don't start to panic and make up an excuse to go to the grocery store to purchase my wine. What a pain in the arse that was! I'm free of it!

I'm proud to be a member of Alcoholics Anonymous
for the past 20 yrs. as I continue to pass on my own
ESH - Experiences Strength and Hopes with those who
still suffer with addiction. AA has allowed me to live
happy joyous and free without alcohol as a part of it.

I am proud to have gotten some kind of grip on stressful days. Today was a stressful day (kid stuff) and so now I'm watching TV, drinking coke and eating cheese.

It's OK. Stress if OK. Life goes on. I seriously think I used to hype up all the stuff in my life to give me more excuses to drink.

Today I am proud that I did not waste my Sunday being hungover and crabby.

I set out with a list of *stuff* that needed to be done and finished it...(no wine breaks).

I am proud that I got all kinds of exercise and am able to move around....(i've been achey and have sciatica). I maintained a positive attitude and did not let anything stop me from enjoying my weekend.

I feel prepared for my work week...no Sunday Night Anxiety or feeling guilty.

Man, do I remember that. I am so grateful that I no longer have to worry about that. I remember making sure I slept with my face away from my wife's so she wouldn't complain about my drinking. What a prison I built for myself.

Keep up the good work everyone!!!

I am proud that eventhough it was raining I went for a long hard walk in the park, because it helps me to maintain my mental health and therefore my sobriety. And I was able to smell the wet ground, enjoy the sound of the rain, notice the beautiful flowers appearing and be happy just with that.

I am proud that today is the day I finally decided to take any and all steps necessary to maintain my sobriety. I will reach out, I will ask for help, I will find a way each and every day to renew my commitment to living a life without alcohol, and I will work hard at it A's if my life depended on it. Because, it does.

Absolutley - my little (not so little!) son is 11 today and this is one of the few birthdays of any of my children that I will enjoy and actually remember.

I am proud of my 50 days today! I am proud of my fun filled weekend where I did things for myself and also for others. If I was still drinking, I would have been on the couch all weekend watching Lifetime.
