Looking for a sponsor

hello, I am looking for a male sponsor for my boyfriend to start communicating with him about his sober recovery while he is doing time for his 4th DUI in Wildwood Correctional Center. Which he did give me permission to do this. If you are interested in being his sponsor and would like to start writing him and helping him on the road to recovery please let me know.

Hi,

I wonder if there are any groups of AA people that visit the prison?

Maybe your boyfriend could talk to one of those people?

Good suggestion, Anna. I believe most, if not all, prisons and correctional facilities provide AA/recovery meetings.

Chuckhodges, given that it's a "center" is it safe to assume that this is a minimum security facility? If so, he may be authorized to attend AA meetings on the outside and find a sponsor there.

You might also call the AA hotline in your area, explain to them the situation, and see what they suggest.

Many AA groups take a meeting to jails/prisons/institutions.

It is a min. facility. But they are not allowed to leave the center. He is looking into seeing if they have meetings but there is a program that he has to get into but it is by release date and hes scheduled for release October 2012 but hes trying for parole in May of this year. His PO there is not doing anything to help so he can get better and have a wonderful life. He's just hoping that someone who is willing to be his sponsor and help him start his road to recovery.

Hi, sorry to hear about your boyfriend. It's horrible how we can end up in jail or prison as we call it in the UK. I have been sober for five years plus now and work as a drug and alcohol worker.
PM me if would like any advice, or maybe see if I can help in any way.

Well, I identify with your bf...had the same # of DUI arrests, but back then they didn't put us in prison for it. If he wants to talk, we can talk.
