Another newbie

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the site and just wanted to introduce myself.
I'm 8 months 6 days clean and sober, I used pretty hard for about 10 years and drank alcoholically for about 3. Generally I'd switch between alcohol and drugs depending on what I'd recently been caught with until about 2 years ago when I guess I kind of went all out and did both daily.
I went into inpatient rehab last July thru August and have been c & s since then. Recently though I haven't really been focusing on my recovery much and found old attitudes creeping back in so I thought it would be a good idea to find some communal help and here I am.
Thanks for reading

Welcome to SR, Beardo !

I found this site last April, and it's been a HUGE help (unorthodox work schedule , and all )
Congrats on your C&S time.

This site continues to help me "stay focused" . Kind , generous folks around here.

....thankfully, it can get pretty interesting sometimes too !!!!!

Welcome Beardo, I'm fairly new to both this site and sobriety. I tried AA but did not find it helpful. I belong to SOS (Secular Organization for Sobriety), but they meet only once a week. I find this site enormously helpful. All the best!

Thanks alot guys I don't find AA or NA too helpful either but I do go to some meetings if for nothing else than for face to face time with other people in the same boat.
I'm not sure if they have SOS here in Aus but I'll look into it!

They also have SMART Recovery in Oz (don't here in France), and so must have meetings in Sydney. I'm also looking for an AA alternative but nothing seems as big/organised here. That said, I've never been to an AA meeting so have lined up meetings at 4 different chapters from wed to sat... to see if one clicks.

Welcome Beardo! You'll definetly find support here. Along with great advice, friendship, and best yet a place to go immediately when feeling confused, lost, down, as well as happy and eager to share.
