Hi - I'm a newby.

Hi There,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I've just recently come to the conclusion that I might be an alcoholic. It's strange that I find myself here because, so many other things in my life are going so well. I have a great job, a nice family, a wonderful fiancée who is very good to me. When I drink, I make a total fool out of myself but, when I get started I just can't stop.

I actually have a medical condition as result of my drinking. (Enlarged red blood cells.) I'd be interested in talking to someone about that, if they had any information to share.

I have not had any large repercussions as a result of my drinking but, just because I've been lucky. Never been in trouble with the law. I can stay sober at work.

It's social situations that I have difficulty with. In general, I have difficulty when I'm feeling anxious or nervous.

I feel like I'm ready for a change though. I want to feel peaceful in myself.

Anyway, please say hi!

HI there!!! Welcome to SR, it's a great place to read and post! I've been sober for a month tomorrow, and a big part of that has been being able to come on here and browse when I'm feeling stressed.

I'm a "high-bottom" alcoholic, too...haven't faced any serious repercussions because of my drinking, but ready for a change and to deal with life on life's terms.

Hi! Welcome, you're in a good place and you are making a good decision. I'm with you, when I start I can't stop...so time to stop period.

There should be a "class" for March, join them..if there is none, start one. You'll have friends to support you going forward.

Good to know you are checking out how to live
a healthier future...and drinking with your existing medical condition
is certainly not going to benefit you.

Welcome...

Welcome QLM - it's so much better to stop before we have serious consequences but can see where the road leads...... it really helps me to read the posts here when I'm tempted to think "one drink won't hurt....."

Make yourself at home - this is a great place to get support and understanding.....:ghug3

Hi! Your story is like many of ours. I didn't have many repercussions other than the physical, but I couldn't moderate at all and that is the reason I believe I'm alcoholic. I quit by going to AA. Nice to meet you!

Thank you!

I appreciate the replies more than you know. I know intellectually that I'm not the only person with this problem but, I feel pretty scared to reach out about it. So, thank you!
