Wish me luck
I've finally decided to take some action. I've been drinking for 25 yrs and I'm at a point in my life where I know it has to stop. The reason I want to quit is I feel like I'm wasting my life away and that is really starting to depress me. I am married and have small children (6 and 8). I know that being an alcholic is not fair to them. For the most part I am a good father and husband, but I know I could be better. The alcohol is really starting to get the best of me and is really starting to control my life. The best part is I know I am not alone. That is why I am here
Hey peace28, I'm exactly in the same position as you my kids are almost 10 and 8.
Keep stopping the drink then starting again, for me it is a heavy social thing... finding it hard to commit and really stick with the resolve.
But I will get there and so will you. That you have found this place is great. So welcome.

Welcome to SR, Peace. Having grown up with a father with a serious drinking problem (although otherwise a great guy...) let me say that sobriety and recovery would be the most amazing gift you can give your children and they deserve it 100%. I hope you find your way you have lots of company.

welcome, peace - This is a great community and we understand what you're going through. Alcohol erodes so many of the good things in our life. I'm glad you've decided to get sober.
