Prayers For a Friend...
Asking for some backup prayer-wise for a friend.
She's a great kid - classic - CLASSIC codie in recovery,
straight a student - being 'the good daughter' for everyone...
always where her mom can find her -
we all know the song and the dance.
She's been in recovery for the codie thing
off and on since she could walk practically -
and her sister has been in recovery since she was a tweener.
Sis just got out of jail a few months ago
has already used a few times in the interim
and disappeared after her 'meeting' last night.
The poor girl is frantic.
SAcared to death for her sister
who gets herself into some very seedy
very dangerous positions
before running home
(or getting turned in)
so I you get a moment
or could add this lovely strugglin kid to your prayer list today...
I watched her trying so hard to pay attention in class today.
She wAS constantly checking her phone...
she came up to me after class
and asked me if it'd be wrong to ask her sister's sponsor
(who is, coincidentally in the same class)
if she'd heard from her sister.
See how it drags everyone into their drama?
I said technnically =- yeah. It would be wrong.
Because it'd be cornering the sponsor
and the sponsor would have to break their promise
of anonymity...
but it doesn't mean she 'can't'.
If it'll help - thne do it I said.
man that sucked.
All I wound up saying was that, and
'You know she hasn't becasue **sister**
hasn't had time to get into trouble yet. Soon
as she's in trouble - we'll ALL hear from her.'
Anyway -
if sponsor HAD heard from her -
she'd probably go up to the girl
and tell her anyhow.
Sad - but oh, so true.
poor kid.
ANYWAY -
If you get a minute
and can spare one -
just a little peace and comfort for this kid.
Thanks everyone.
What an up close and personal example
of the 'ripple effect' for me today.
Becasue now *I* am worried about the kid, too.

Prayers for your friend.

Sending prayers for your friend and her sister...Your post reminded me of the panic my daughter felt when her sister disappeared...As much recovery as we practice, it is still scary and sad when a loved one chooses to go back out. It takes a concerted effort to pray and then try to let go of the outcome. You are a good friend, Barb

There's been no word as yet.
The state will probably be taking over soon.
Meanwhile-
I got some homework done
cleaned this place up a bit
(what the heck - I just get dressed and go to school
where does all this ...stuff come from?)
OH!!!
that reminds me - I've got something that happened this week!
a 'Barb Thing' ... Wil put on another thread! LOL
