Fan-flipping-tastic News Today!
I was unemployed and had been for over a year when I first started posting on SR. I'm still dealing with the credit card debt that I dealt with for being unemployed and making bad decisions; at one point I thought I was going to have to sell my house.
My plan was to drastically reduce my spending over the last several months so that I could finally pay off my credit card bill this month and I was about to...enter the non-budgeted home owners insurance bill. (I've currently got $38 in my bank account. )
I was a bit bummed that I couldn't pay off my credit card bill but stayed positive and sober. I just found out today that I'll be making almost twice as much as what I was hired on for last year...pushing me into the six figure mark that I've always dreamed of as a kid (I had it once briefly but lost it because I chose to get drunk).
I almost started tearing up when I got my paycheck today. I can pay off my credit card bill, my home owners insurance, AND have money to spare. I feel like I hit the lottery.
I just HAD to share this with you guys - I'm so happy!!! Sobriety really does bring good things and PLENTY of them (financial success is just one of many). Thanks for letting me share the good news.
I thought I'd post this in the newbies section to offer encouragement and to add a bit of optimism to the seemingly hopeless state of early sobriety.
Awesome happens.

Cool, can I borrow some money?
No, really, that is AWESOME! Good for you. I am employed, but still having some financial difficulties here and there. I am starting to figure out what I need to do to fix that. Also keeping the faith that staying sober and doing the right thing will help everything to work itself out.
Congratulations! Thanks for the encouragement.

That's great news! I'm sure many of us here know well the financial strains that our alcoholic behavior can cause. Especially in these times, financial worries are often at the forefront of our minds. I'm so glad this new development in your life may be able to give you some peace concerning your monetary situation. Congratulations!

I'm truly happy for your good news. i think it also relieves a burden that weighs heavy on the mind. i've spent $$ i didn't have (the phrase "like a drunken sailor" comes to mind) on booze too.
i think once i was sober, putting a solid financial budget in place was one of my smartest decisions too. the less worries I have, the less triggers to drink.
although I was a "cheap" drinker, it added up to over 3K per year...now I use the "booze $$" to make double principal payments on my mortgage every month.
(i'm excited to see the balance go down every month on the statement) lol

Awesome..great job (I mean..great job you have and great job you've done!!) Today I have 32 days and it's SO freaky all the good that comes together when the focus is on sobriety and the future. Thanks for sharing your good fortune, it's inspiration for many!
I'm so very happy for you!! What a relief it must be. Thanks for posting such great news. It's encouraging to everyone struggling. Lives can become manageable! Bad times can turn around. Have faith and hold on.

Ya know, the only thing better than having this happen today is being able to share it with all of you; because that means you're here and I'm here. As long as we're here, there's hope.
I don't feel worthy of being an inspiration (it's surreal to read that because I always thought of myself as a hopeless case) but I do feel tremendous worth if that makes any sense.
I give sobriety 5 out of 5 stars with free shipping.
