Hello everyone, newbie on here.
I have been reading these posts for months now and finally joined just a few hours ago. I started looking for any help, tips or tricks in dealing with my husband's abuse of his narcotic medications. Long story short, his abuse led to him taking my medication and now I have been shut off from my meds after 8 years of taking as prescribed and never having any problems with abuse. I am starting day 3 of home detox and it has been pretty rough. I am scheduled for surgery on the 28th of this month, at which time I will be on day 8 of detox. I am scared to continue with the surgery and have to take narcotics again after such a short time of being off them. I would never want to go through this again!! Any advice on the surgery? Will coming off pain meds after the surgery cause this type of withdrawal again? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to SR - have you talked to a Dr about the fact you've been cut off because of your husband, the fact you're in withdrawal, and the fact you're headed for surgery?
I would definitely want a professional medical opinion on all of this if it was me.
