11 things I love about being sober
Hi friends,
Today is day 11 and I thought I'd make a celebratory list of how life has gotten better without the bottle.
1. Money isn't everything, but I sure have saved a lot! At least $80 by now. Wine is expensive, especially at the rate I was going through it.
2. I'm giving my antidepressants a chance to do their job.
3. I haven't sent any embarrassing text messages while under the influence.
4. I feel so peaceful!
5. I'm hypoglycemic and I know all that sugar wasn't doing me any favors.
6. Another health note- the sharp pains in my abdomen have stopped!
7. Great things have been happening for me- I've been out of work for a few months and my phone is ringing off the hook for jobs now.
8. At least three hours of productivity have been added to every day for me. I've been reading and studying!
9. I feel empowered to succeed in my classes this semester (I failed two last fall) and to succeed in a new job.
10. I can keep my bedroom door open because I don't have to hide bottles from my parents.
11. I'm meeting so many wonderful, inspiring people on SR!
Every night is still a struggle and an internal debate- that voice that says "just one drink?", but I check this site from my phone a few times a day and it gets me through.

I don't know if I could think of a good reason for each of my 400 plus days sober but it would be worth trying. Each sober day is a reason in itself for happiness and being positive. Just waking up feeling good is a huge reason to stay sober every day.

I called a friend at about 9:45 this morning - not realizing that he had been out last night. My call woke him up and he was obviously not feeling well. I loved the fact I didn't wake up today feeling like he did!

I haven't been a member long enough to post pictures of her, but I'll be all over the cat lover's group with pics soon.
Great list Phoenix, I was just posting in our December group the other day about how the $$$ is adding up...in a good way! Kinda amazing how much less a dinner out costs without the booze.
Waking up in the morning, free from guilt, remembering everything, without pain? Priceless.
