Hey there ladyfierce - glad you are here among us. Those day ones: like a broken record, sure can get a person down. Stay strong and focused and make a plan for recovery.

While none of us can say with certainty what will work this time, we can examine and become convinced of what didn't work. It would seem foolish, maybe fatal, to go back into battle using the same plan, wouldn't it?

What didn't work?

Whats the new plan?

You know what keeps the Marine Corps going when they are full on in battle?

Beans, bullets, and bandaids. Delivered through thick and thin by a fierce and loyal supply chain that will put their life on the line to get the goods to the guys in the front. One can't make it without the other. Good or bad, it works to the point no force in the world wants to go head on with the USMC.

What is the magic here? What makes them so invincible? Strong in the face of death, and a force most will back down from if given the choice?

They are Gung Ho.

Whazzat mean?

"Enthusiastic"? "Dedicated"?

To a lessor degree, yes, Gung Ho means these things. But not at its core.

Gung Ho is from the Chinese, roughly translating to work together.

If you are making a new plan, make sure it has plenty of Gung Ho.

If you're going into battle, go in to win. Take plays from the toughest in the world, people who know fear, and go on in spite of it, who know they need each other to make it, who believe that if you don't make it, they may not make it. No sacrifice too great to see that nobody is left behind. When the USMC hits the field, everybody pays attention. We face an enemy. Our addictions. A merciless deadly enemy. There is a battle plan that can be fought and won.

Fight smart. Gung Ho. Don't try it alone. All through nature, predators single out and cut their prey from the pack. Something to be learned from this.

Hi Lady,

I went through so many day 1s. Try to examine what convinced you to drink again and see where that logic was irrational. You don't need to drink, you may want to but you don't have to. And it was wonderful to get to the place that I didn't have to drink.

Thanks everyone! Yes, I have thought about what went wrong and I'm going to come up with a plan to deal with it for next time. Gonna learn from my mistake. Thanks again to everyone for the support.
