Going to be spending a weekend alone soon

I don't get much time alone (small kids) and there has never been a time when I've been 'free' and not gotten absolutely trashed (drinking at breakfast trashed ).

I have so many nice plans. Dinner and a movie by myself. Decluttering. I also have some work to do for an organization I volunteer with.

Just wanted to share. I don't know that I ever thought I'd get here, to be honest. It seemed SO foreign to me that I would be 'free' to drink and I wouldn't want to!

Hi SSIL75,

I think we all need some time to our self, and it's good that you have set some time aside just for you. And it looks like you have a good plan for this weekend.

I coming up on my 2 years sober and last summer I took a week off for myself and went camping in the mountains, found a beautiful place by a small lake it was postcard prefect. I did lots of hiking and I just wanted to get back in touch with nature and I took a good book with me. (Drinking by Caroline Knapp) very good book by the way. I had a wonderful time and felt a inner peace with me, a kind of peace I have not felt in a long time. I plan to do the same thing this year.

Thanks for your share SSIL75 and let us know how your weekend went.

That weekend of sobriety will make you stronger. And very proud of yourself!

Come to SR a lot then, if you need to.

Oh, and enjoy yourself!

I'm an empty nester so spend most of my time alone. Learning how to be alone with myself without drinking was quite a task but I now feel comfortable with myself without drinking. Enjoy your weekend!
