I am ready to get sober
Hello! I was on this site back in 2004/2005. It helped me a lot in my early days and weeks of my recovery. I stopped drinking on 2-7-05 and remained sober until 12-18-10. The last year has been up and down, but eventually my drinking ended up to be a daily ritual (again). I loved being sober, and I am ready to get back. Today is day 1 for me. Glad to be back!

If you were sober that long at some time, then something was 'working', and there is no reason why it cannot work again.
When someone has had some longer term sobriety, I am not one to discount that time, as there is still some 'experience' to be shared and offered.
I know, newcomers who may not be totally ready, often use the term, 'yeah BUT,' and some who return, find it hard to listen to what they KNOW they are going to hear again, and often use the term, 'yeah, I KNOW'.
Well, to the 'yeah, I KNOWer's'...well, then the only thing left to do is DO then isn't there?
It doesn't sound like you are one of them though.
You sound more like a "I'm ready to kick butt"
Well, let's go soldier!! On yer feet!! There's a war to fight! We're in this together! Deal?
Here...I'll even share my popcorn with you.
But the next batch is on you.

Thank you for the warm welcome! Ready to clear the cobwebs and get healthy. It is time (again).
Hi Anna - I see a few familiar names here - I can't believe it was 6 years ago when I first came here. Time flies.
Hi Anna - I see a few familiar names here - I can't believe it was 6 years ago when I first came here. Time flies.
Welcome back.
It is comforting to see
familiar names here
in SR and familiar
faces if you go to
outside meetings.
I often hear how once
someone gets sober
or has a taste of sobriety
that it messes up their
drinking carrers and that
it is never the same as
it once was.
Alcohol will never change
out there in the world as it
continues to kick butt and
screws up peoples lives.
I thought I was happy
when i was drinking. Thought
I was full of life, yet little
did I know that it was
sucking the life right out
of me. Reeking havoc
in my life and those
around me.
That was some 20 yrs.
ago when my family stepped
in to save my life, doing
for me what I couldn't
do for myself.
I went thru a 28 day rehab
recieiving the tools and
knowledge of my disease
of alcoholism then applying
them to my everyday
life.
I eventually found sober-
recovery and have used
this site as another tool
in my recovery.
It has become a place to
share my own experiences,
strengths and hopes of what
it was like before during and
after drinking to many who
wish to read it while helping
me stay sober one more day.
Glad you've returned.
