What will the New Year Bring for all of us?
I'm on 39 days today. I've not been sober this long in 5 years. I did two months then.
I have to give a lot of credit to SR. My first posts are dark and scary. I feel better now. I'm feeling good.
I have actually had a day in the past 39 where I did not think about drinking. Wow, now that was a fantastic day. A day I did not feel like I was missing out on something.
One of the main reasons I had not quit was this. A feeling.
The feeling that quiting would mean missing something or losing something.
In fact it has been quite the opposite. I've taken things back. My sanity, my moods, my self esteem, my credit card. There have been hard days. The first couple of weeks were really tough. My situation is still not good. Money is bad, I need a steady job, I'm single and 30 pounds overweight.
But I can work on all those things now. I have hope.
Here's a shout out to everybody who has quit and is struggling. Keep it up. It pays off! And if you're thinking you have a problem with drinking and want to quit, it means you "do" have a problem and you "should." Those feelings are your heart and soul crying out in pain. You have to listen to them. Don't walk away from them and try to drown them out with booze.
Feeling depressed, anxious, isolated and scared of the world is not normal.
Ok that's enough sermon from me.
