Not-so-new Newcomer
After 9 months in the program (including a month of rehab) I am now, finally, 90 days clean! So thankful for my NA and AA families, and that I stuck with it, even when times were rough. I am working the steps, and have an awesome sponsor. I am looking for a service position, and try my best to carry the message that addicts CAN get clean and recover from addiction. I struggled for so long with the obsession to use, and today, it has been 90 days since my last drug/drink, and also 90 days since my last 'real' craving. The obsession has gone away, and any thoughts of using or drinking I have had have been fleeting. Today I am practicing a better way of life, and helping others to do the same. Sober Recovery has always been there for me when I had a problem, and I am thankful for that as well.
(((OWW))) - congrats on 90 days!!
I don't think it matters, so much, in how long it takes us to "get it"...just that it does before our time runs out. Some of us are slow learners (ME!!).
It sounds like you are making the most of your recovery, and that is a true gift to yourself. Merry Christmas!!
Hugs and prayers,
Amy
