Hello - I'm not too sure as to how to go about this - but here goes! My AH is presently in detox - he'll be there for seven days.
This is his third serious attempt at sobriety. There is a one month program being offered in our area beginning 2 days after his detox has completed. I would like to see him enter this program, but he is dragging his heels - he hates being away from home. How persuasive should I be, or should he be making this decision on his own? I just feel that the longer he is sober before returning home, the better.
Thanks so much in advance.
Jenny

Daffodil; Thanks for the love and prayers.
My A called this afternoon - it sounds as though he has decided not to attend the one month program. I'm afraid that he'll just go right back to it when he comes home. However, this time, with his liver so badly damaged, perhaps he'll think twice before taking that first beer.

Hey ther Thereids.... glad you are here.
Sorry that he has chosen to not attend the 30 day program. I hope that he does choose to not begin again. In the mean time we are more than happy to listen and support you. You didn't mention whether or not you are attending al-anon, but I would like to suggest it to you.
Keep posting!
Blessings,
Constant

I haven't attended an Al-anon meeting as yet, but I am planning to attend my first this week.
I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate being able to talk to folks who have " been there, done that." It is so appreciated!
