Just a reminder

One why we take it one day at a time.

I have been having much success with my personal battle against drinking. Finding other ways to spend my time.... taking it 1 day at a time so to speak. Things have been looking up, but saturday it all changed.

I was so proud of where i have come that I decided a couple cocktails at a christmas party wouldn't hurt. A couple of cocktails turned in to a couple cocktails and a couple of shots, turned in to going to the bar till 2 am and drinking myself in to a blackout stoop. Turned me in to breaking my hand in 3 places, turned in to me losing all the respect and appreciation I have gained over the last 3 or so months of trying to make amends with all I have wronged (myself included).

That is why we take it one day at a time. Day 2 and more motivated than ever.

Glad you're back at it. If you ever think that just two drinks will be ok, go back to your Post and re-read it. Congrats of day 2, you can do this.

Yep...I did the same thing, had 65 days, then gone. One drink, to another, to another. It's the disease. We can't pick up that 1st drink, period.

You can do this...we can do this together. I am on day 11 today.

You have the idea mil.guy....keep it up!

I'm feeling the same right now. I convince myself a couple is okay, but for me a couple turns into an entire 26, plus more

Good thing you are back on track Mil. We are all in the same boat, keeping each other company while we sail through the choppy waters of recovery. Today so far is sunny and bright and the waters are still, where I am, cas I am sober!

Thanks for posting!

Good for you MKEguy... This **** is not easy. Like the big book says, sometimes we have no idea why we took that first drink. It can just sneak up on us. I'm glad you're re-committed. A drink does not make anything better! Hell, a drink doesn't even solve the problem of "Man, I want a drink". All a drink does for us alcoholics is make us want another, then another, then oblivion...

sorry about your hand Milwaukee but I'm glad you're back on track.
This addiction really is insidious.

Hey, Milwaukeeguy, I'm glad you're back.

I think that taking it one day at a time, enabled me to accept that drinking was no longer an option.
