Not long?

I have been told by my specialist that I have liver damage and nothing can be done, I feel nothing and wish I could turn back the clock

I'm so sorry you have to deal with that news.

I'd still get a second opinion on whether nothing can be done, PuffDaddies....

and please resist the urge to drink over the news...giving your liver the best care you can now seems to me the best option.

I know you'll find a lot of help and support here - welcome to SR

Thats tough news, I'm so sorry PuffDaddies, how horribly difficult to accept such a final outcome. I also urge you to seek a second consultation with other medical professionals to confirm such grim news. Although it seems so moot, more drinking will not help as you know. Please do seek those additional opinions. Sometimes fresh eyes can see hope where before was only despair. I'm so sorry.

Sorry... . Get that 2nd opinion. Live life best as you can from now on. Maybe you can help others go down a different path. Good luck.

..my liver function, three months ago,was diabolical..

..now,today,after three months,(((perfect)))

..see another doctor..some are too quick, with regards to alcohol issues,
to wave a 'heavy sword'..

..the liver can/does repair fully if you abstain,completely..

..I wish you well..Oz..(I really mean that..)

I also STRONGLY urge you to get a second opinion and REFRAIN from any alcohol.

The liver is the only organ in the body that can and does regenerate itself. That is why for the last several years they have done 'live donor' transplants. A person with a healthy liver gives up half their liver and it is transplanted into the donee. Within 8 to 10 weeks they both have fully functioning livers.

Please get THAT SECOND OPINION and REFRAIN from alcohol. I think you might be pleasantly surprised.

Love and hugs,

I'm sorry about this news. I agree with the others, though, about talking to another doc or at least talking a little more to your current doc about what your diagnosis means. I'm guessing the title of your thread is related to an idea that maybe this liver disease will kill you soon, and I don't think that's an assumption to jump to.

Abstinence can make a big difference in liver disease no matter what stage of liver damage you're at, and of course, being abstinent opens transplant doors if it comes to that. So either way, do whatever you can to stay sober.
